Admission Process

There are two modes of admission to undergraduate courses like B.Com. 

Merit-based system- Only some private Institutions follow this system nowadays, wherethe  following steps would be followed-

1. You will have to fill out the application form, submitting details about the percentage obtained in class 10 + 2. 
2. Institutions will release a cutoff and grant admission to the students who are above the cutoff. 
3. There is no need to appear in any entrance exam in the merit-based system.

Entrance-based system- Most of the colleges, including central Universities in our country, now grant admission based on entrance tests by following these steps-

1. Students are entitled to appear in entrance exams like CUET UG conducted by NTA or any other university or college-specific exam. 
2. While filling out the application form, students would be required to give details about their entrance exam marks 
3. Institutes decide a minimum cut-off in the form of entrance marks to grant admission to the top rankers, as per the applications received 
4. Candidates are given a specific timeline to pay the college fee to confirm their admission, and seats are allocated to the next best students in the entrance list. 

Fees Structure

1. In a government college like Delhi University colleges, the fee for B.Com ranges from 10k to 30k a year. 
2. In a private university or an autonomous institution, fees for B.Com could range between 50k to 1 lakh per year. 

Eligibility Criteria 

1. Passing the class 10 + 2 examination is important. 
2. Obtaining a minimum percentage of marks, generally around 50 to 60%, is required by different institutions. 
3. Commerce students are given preference, even though anybody can apply for the same.
