- At the national level, admissions to institutions like IIT are granted on the basis of scores obtained in the JEE exam.
- Many states like West Bengal, Karnataka, Gujarat, Kerala, conduct their own joint entrance exams to determine eligibility to state level universities.
- Private Universities like BITS Pilani, SRM University have their own private engineering entrance exams for admissions to their respective institutions.
- Forms for JEE Mains are released around October. Students need to register themselves for it and appear.
- Once the scorecards are issued, the Joint Seat Allocation Authority conducts counselling for granting seats to various institutions under its ambit. Students qualified in JEE Mains can participate in that.
